At Royal Purrs USA Cattery, we put the health, safety, and well-being of our Maine Coon kittens first. When someone wants to adopt one of our kittens, we take a close look at their home to make sure it’s a good fit. We also make sure buyers have all the information they need, including health records, photos, videos, and updates throughout the process.

When you buy a kitten, it’s not like buying something from a store. Kittens are living creatures, so we have special rules for refunds, cancellations, returns, and replacements. These rules are explained in our policy and in the papers you sign when you buy a kitten, like the Kitten Purchase Agreement and Health Guarantee. We want to make sure everyone is clear on how things work when it comes to taking care of our kittens.

1. Reservation Deposits

To hold a particular Maine Coon kitten, you need to pay a deposit. This deposit will take the kitten off the market, so it’s no longer available to others.

Unless otherwise stated in writing, reservation deposits are non-refundable when the buyer:

  • Changes their mind after reserving a kitten.

  • Decides to purchase a kitten from another breeder.

  • Doesn’t want a kitten anymore.

  • Encounters housing, landlord, employment, family, or financial difficulties.

  • Doesn’t pay the rest of the money on time, after they said they would.

  • Gives wrong or missing details when applying for something.

  • Stops communicating with Royal Purrs USA Cattery.

If someone doesn’t pick up their kitten on time, it can cause problems. They should get their kitten when they’re supposed to.

  • Is unable to obtain permission from a landlord, spouse, family member, or homeowners’ association.

At Royal Purrs USA Cattery, we might let you move your deposit to another kitten that’s available, or to a litter that’s coming up in the future – but this is only up to us to decide, and we’ll only do it once.

We need to get approval in writing for any deposit transfers. This is because we have to make sure there are kittens available, and we also need to consider any differences in price and waiting times that might apply.

You can’t give your reservation deposit to someone else or sell it without first getting permission in writing from Royal Purrs USA Cattery.

2. Final Payments

The remaining balance must be paid by the deadline stated on the buyer’s invoice, reservation confirmation, or purchase agreement.

We won’t let you take your kitten home until we’ve got all the money sorted out. This means the full amount you owe us, plus any extra costs for getting the kitten to you, need to be paid and confirmed by us first.

Once a kitten has been:

  • Collected by the buyer;

  • Delivered to the buyer;

  • Released to an approved transporter or flight nanny; or

  • Checked in with an authorized transportation provider,

When you make a payment, it’s final – you won’t get your money back unless we’ve agreed to it in the Health Guarantee you signed, or if the law says we have to give you a refund or replacement.

Failure to pay the remaining balance by the agreed deadline may result in cancellation of the reservation and loss of the reservation deposit.

3. Buyer Cancellations

If you want to cancel an adoption, you need to let Royal Purrs USA Cattery know in writing. The best way to do this is by sending an email to Tica@royalpurrsusa.com. This is the proper way to notify them of your decision.

Typically, if a buyer cancels, they won’t get their money back in cash.

Depending on the situation, Royal Purrs USA Cattery might give you a credit to use on another kitten that’s available right now or on a future litter. They’ll think about things like:

  • How much notice the buyer provided.

  • Whether veterinary services have already been completed.

  • Whether transportation has already been reserved.

  • Whether special supplies or paperwork were purchased.

  • Can the kitten be given to another family that has been approved?

  • The buyer’s reason for cancelling.

Any credit provided has no cash value and must be used within the period stated in the written approval.

4. Cancellations by Royal Purrs USA Cattery

Royal Purrs USA Cattery reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or refuse an adoption when:

  • The kitten becomes sick or injured.

  • The kitten isn’t healthy enough to travel.

  • A veterinarian advises against placement or travel.

  • The buyer doesn’t meet the requirements we have for adopting.

  • The buyer provides false, misleading, or incomplete information.

  • The buyer fails to complete payment.

We don’t think the new house is a good idea, it might not be safe for people to live there.

  • Circumstances arise that could place the kitten’s welfare at risk.

If Royal Purrs USA Cattery decides to cancel an adoption for good before the kitten goes home, the person who was going to buy the kitten might be given some options.

  1. You will get your money back for the kitten you paid for.

You can also choose to transfer the payment to another kitten that’s available.

  1. Priority placement on an upcoming litter.

The buyer will put their chosen solution in writing.

We’re not responsible for any extra costs you might have when buying a cat from us. This includes things like booking a hotel, traveling, taking time off work, buying pet stuff, or putting down a deposit on a rental place – unless we’ve agreed to it in writing.

5. Transportation and Delivery Fees

Delivery, ground transportation, airline transportation, flight nanny services, veterinary examinations, health certificates, travel crates, carrier fees, airport fees, and administrative costs may be charged separately from the kitten’s purchase price.

When you book, buy, or use a transportation service, you can’t get your money back. This rule applies as soon as you schedule, purchase, reserve, or complete a trip.

If we need to change travel plans due to bad weather, rules from the airline, cancelled flights, advice from a vet, government rules, mechanical issues, or something else that’s not our fault, you might have to pay extra for new bookings or travel costs. This could happen because of things that are outside of our control, and we can’t be held responsible for them. You should be prepared for possible extra costs if we need to make changes to the travel plans.

We’ll do our best to help with changing plans at Royal Purrs USA Cattery, but when someone else is in charge of getting your pet to us, we can’t promise a specific date or time of arrival.

If your flight or trip is delayed because of things like bad weather, traffic, or problems with the airport, you won’t automatically get your money back. The same goes for issues with the government or other things that are out of our control.

6. No Traditional Product Returns

You can’t just send a kitten back like it’s something you bought at a store.

Before placing a deposit, the buyer is responsible for considering:

  • Household allergies.

  • Landlord and housing restrictions.

  • Family approval.

  • Existing pets.

  • Work schedules.

  • Travel plans.

  • Long-term veterinary expenses.

  • Grooming requirements.

  • Food and litter expenses.

  • The time and responsibility involved in owning a Maine Coon.

Refunds are not provided because of:

  • A change in the buyer’s personal circumstances.

  • Family or relationship disagreements.

  • Landlord or housing restrictions.

  • Allergies discovered after adoption.

  • The kitten’s normal adjustment period.

  • Typical behaviors like scratching, climbing, and shedding are normal. So are making noise and playing around.

  • Litter-box accidents during the adjustment period.

  • Personality differences.

  • Sometimes, the kitten just doesn’t live up to what the buyer was hoping for.

  • The buyer’s inability to afford veterinary care.

  • The buyer’s existing pet is not immediately accepting the kitten.

7. Returning or Rehoming a Kitten

If you’re unable to care for a kitten or cat you bought from Royal Purrs USA Cattery, you need to get in touch with us before you try to sell it, give it up, transfer it to someone else, or find a new home for it.

Depending on available space and the circumstances, Royal Purrs USA Cattery may:

We’ll take care of the kitten or cat again.

  • Assist the buyer in finding an appropriate new home.

  • Refer the buyer to a reputable rescue or placement organization.

We need to agree on a new owner that the buyer thinks is a good choice.

If you return a kitten or cat, it doesn’t mean you’ll get your money back right away.

The buyer may remain responsible for transportation, veterinary examinations, testing, grooming, boarding, and other expenses associated with returning the animal.

A kitten or cat bought from Royal Purrs USA Cattery cannot be used for certain things.

  • Abandoned.

  • Given up at a shelter without letting us know first.

  • It gets sold to a pet store or an animal broker.

  • Used in an unethical breeding operation.

  • Transferred to a laboratory or research facility.

  • Resold without disclosing the original purchase agreement.

8. Veterinary Examination After Arrival

The buyer must have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving the kitten, excluding weekends and public holidays when veterinary services are unavailable.

The buyer needs to give the vet all the records from Royal Purrs USA Cattery, including vaccinations, deworming, microchip information, and health records.

The veterinary examination is intended to confirm the kitten’s general condition after arrival and establish care with the buyer’s veterinarian.

If you don’t finish the exam on time, you might not get all the protections that come with the Health Guarantee, unless the law says otherwise.

The buyer should keep the kitten away from places that could be bad for it until they get advice from a vet. Some of these places might be:

  • Pet stores.

  • Dog parks.

  • Shared outdoor pet areas.

  • Animal shelters.

  • Grooming facilities.

  • Unvaccinated animals.

  • Unfamiliar cats and dogs.

  • Areas that may be contaminated by sick animals.

9. Reporting a Health Concern

If you think your kitten has a serious health problem that’s covered by our Health Guarantee, you need to get in touch with us right away at Tica@royalpurrsusa.com. We’re here to help, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

The buyer may be required to provide:

  • A written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian.

  • Complete examination records.

  • Laboratory or test results.

  • Imaging reports.

  • Treatment recommendations.

  • Veterinary invoices.

  • Photographs or videos when relevant.

  • Authorization for Royal Purrs USA Cattery to consult with the vet.

Royal Purrs USA Cattery may request a second opinion from another licensed veterinarian or veterinary specialist before approving a refund, replacement, or credit.

If you’re thinking about putting a kitten to sleep for a reason that’s not an emergency, you need to talk to Royal Purrs USA Cattery first and give them some time to discuss it with you. The only time you don’t have to do this is if the kitten is in so much pain that it needs to be put to sleep right away to stop its suffering.

10. Veterinary Expenses

When you get a kitten from us, you’re in charge of paying for any vet bills that come up after the kitten is in your care. The only exception is if we at Royal Purrs USA Cattery said it was okay in writing before you took the kitten to the vet.

If your pet has a real medical emergency, you should get them to a vet right away and let us know as soon as you can.

Emergency treatment does not automatically guarantee reimbursement.

Royal Purrs USA Cattery is not responsible for veterinary expenses resulting from:

  • Elective procedures.

  • Routine examinations.

  • Vaccinations.

  • Preventive care.

  • Parasite prevention.

  • Spaying or neutering.

  • Grooming.

  • Dental care.

  • Accidents.

  • Injuries.

  • Improper feeding.

  • Exposure to infectious animals.

  • Failure to follow veterinary recommendations.

11. Minor and Treatable Conditions

If you have a minor problem or something that can be easily treated, you usually won’t get a refund or a replacement.

These conditions may include:

  • Temporary loss of appetite caused by travel or adjustment.

  • Mild stress-related diarrhea.

  • Minor constipation.

  • Temporary respiratory irritation.

  • Ear mites.

  • Fleas.

  • Intestinal parasites.

  • Minor skin irritation.

  • Temporary litter-box adjustment.

  • Minor eye discharge.

  • Conditions that can be treated with regular vet care.

The buyer promises to give the pet the right medical care and follow what the vet says to do.

12. Covered Health Conditions

If you’re getting a refund, credit, or a new kitten because of a health issue, it will be handled according to the rules set out in the Health Guarantee and the agreement you signed when you bought your kitten.

If a vet says a kitten has a bad condition it was born with, and it’s covered by the health guarantee, then the seller might have to do something to fix the problem.

  • A replacement kitten of comparable value.

  • A credit toward a future kitten.

  • A refund of the kitten’s purchase price.

The specific remedy will depend on the terms of the signed agreement and the circumstances of the claim.

Some things can’t be refunded, unless the law says they can or we’ve given permission in writing.

  • Transportation expenses.

  • Flight nanny fees.

  • Veterinary expenses.

  • Medication costs.

  • Diagnostic expenses.

  • Food and supplies.

  • Boarding expenses.

  • Grooming expenses.

  • Lost wages.

  • Travel and accommodation expenses.

We’ll only give back as much as you actually paid to Royal Purrs USA Cattery for the kitten – no more than that.

13. Conditions Not Covered

Refunds, replacements, and credits are not given for health issues that are caused by or connected to certain things.

  • Accidents or injuries occurring after placement.

  • Neglect, abuse, or improper handling.

  • Poisoning or ingestion of unsafe substances.

  • Improper food or nutritional supplements.

  • Failure to follow veterinary instructions.

  • Failure to maintain vaccinations and preventive care.

  • Exposure to infected animals or contaminated environments.

  • Outdoor roaming.

  • Stress caused by changes in the home.

  • Elective surgery or procedures.

  • Unauthorized breeding.

  • Pregnancy or breeding complications.

  • Obesity or poor nutrition.

  • Poor grooming or coat neglect.

  • Dental neglect.

  • Conditions disclosed before purchase.

  • The kitten got sick after it was no longer in our care.

  • Normal breed characteristics.

Royal Purrs USA Cattery can’t promise exactly how big or what a kitten will look like when it grows up.

  • Weight.

  • Size.

  • Coat length.

  • Coat color.

  • Eye color.

  • Temperament.

  • Fertility.

  • Breeding success.

  • Show success.

  • Competition results.

When you see pictures of a kitten’s family, like its mom, dad, or brothers and sisters, these are just examples. They don’t mean the kitten will look exactly like them when it grows up.

14. Death of a Kitten

If a kitten passes away while still under the Health Guarantee, and you think it was because of a hereditary or congenital condition that’s covered, then a full necropsy needs to be done by a vet or a veterinary lab that’s licensed. This is really important to figure out what happened to the kitten. The necropsy will help determine if the death was caused by something that’s covered under the guarantee. It’s a way to get to the bottom of things and make sure everything is taken care of.

The buyer needs to give Royal Purrs USA Cattery some things, these are:

  • The complete necropsy report.

  • The kitten’s complete medical records.

  • Laboratory and diagnostic results.

  • The vet’s written opinion about what caused the animal to die.

You won’t get a refund, credit, or replacement in certain situations.

  • The cause of death cannot be determined.

  • A necropsy was not completed.

  • The death resulted from an accident.

  • The kitten swallowed something bad, like a poison or something that doesn’t belong inside its body.

  • The little kitten got sick with a bad disease after it was taken to its new home.

  • Veterinary care was unreasonably delayed.

  • The death resulted from neglect, trauma, or improper care.

  • This condition is not covered by our Health Guarantee.

15. Breeding and Registration Matters

The name of our cattery, as registered with The International Cat Association, is RoyalPurrsUSA.

When you buy a kitten, the contract will say if it can be used for breeding or not, and if it’s registered.

If you buy a kitten and there’s no written agreement saying you can breed it, then it’s just a pet and you can’t use it to have babies.

If you don’t follow the rules about spaying or neutering, or if you break the breeding rules, or don’t register like you’re supposed to, you won’t get your money back.

We might not let you register until you’ve finished all the necessary paperwork and met all the conditions of your contract.

16. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

The buyer promises to get in touch with Royal Purrs USA Cattery and give them a fair chance to fix any issues before starting a payment dispute or chargeback.

If you submit a chargeback, it won’t cancel your agreement to buy a kitten or get you out of your responsibilities. You still have to follow the rules of the Kitten Purchase Agreement, even if you start a chargeback process.

In response to a chargeback, Royal Purrs USA Cattery may provide the payment processor or financial institution with:

  • The signed purchase agreement.

  • Reservation records.

  • Invoices and payment confirmations.

  • Email and message communication.

  • Photographs and videos.

  • Veterinary records.

  • Transportation records.

  • Delivery or pickup confirmation.

  • Registration documentation.

If someone tries to cheat the system, you can tell the people in charge of payments or the right authorities about it.

17. Written Agreements

The following documents together make up the agreement between Royal Purrs USA Cattery and the person buying from them.

  • This Refund and Returns Policy.

  • The Kitten Purchase Agreement.

  • The Health Guarantee.

  • The buyer’s invoice.

  • Any written reservation confirmation.

  • Any written amendments approved by both parties.

Nothing can take the place of a signed agreement, not even things like ads, social media posts, things people say, pictures, or casual messages.

Any changes or exceptions need to be okayed in writing by Royal Purrs USA Cattery.

18. Applicable Law

This policy must follow all the laws of the country, state, and city that apply to it.

This policy doesn’t take away any rights that consumers have by law. Some rights are protected and can’t be waived, and this policy isn’t meant to change that.

If a part of this policy is found to be invalid or can’t be enforced, the rest of the policy will still be in effect.

19. Contact Information

Questions regarding deposits, cancellations, refunds, health claims, returns, or rehoming must be submitted in writing.
